An Oregon Centennial dress with an interesting history was donated to the Oregon Area Historical Society museum by Oregon resident, Patty Kexel. This dress was originally worn at President Grant’s Inaugural Ball on March 4, 1869 by a member of the Stuart family. The dress was given to Ann Kexel by her first teacher. Ann wore the dress for the Oregon Centennial Celebration in 1941 when she and her husband, Ted Kexel, and their first three children lived on Jefferson Street. Their oldest daughter, Mary Ellen Morrisey wore it again during the Bicentennial celebrations in Lake Geneva, July 4, 1976. Patty and her family visited the OAHS museum on Aug. 9th to see the dress on display.
