Fred Tibbit, a prosperous farmer of Dunn township and a defender of the flag in the Civil War days, is of English birth, the place and date of his nativity having been Norfolkshire, England, December 27, 1848.

Anton T. Onsrud

ANTON T. ONSRUD is a prominent farmer of Rutland Dane county. His parents, Thora Larsen Onsrud and Bertha (Gutormson) Onsrud, were natives of Ullensacker, Norway, where they were married and spent their entire lives. Of their four children, all except Allte, who died in Norway, came to America. Caroline is the wife of A. Halverson of Stoughton, and Morrison lives in Minneapolis, Minn.

Robert J. McWatty

ROBERT J. McWATTY, retired, formerly sheriff of Dane county was born in Mercer county, Pa., March 26, 1848. His father was Wm. McWatty, a native of Ireland, who came to the United States in the early forties and secured work on the Erie Canal, after having farmed for a time in Mercer county, Pa.In September, 1948, William McWatty came to Dane county, taking a one hundred and twenty acre farm eight miles south of Madison.

John Culb

JOHN CULB, a prosperous farmer of the town of Oregon, was born in the province of Bavaria, Germany, on September 11, 1848, and is one of three children born to Henry and Elizabeth (Brown) Culb both of whom are also natives of the Fatherland, where the father served six years in the German army.

Private Samuel G. Rice

Born Ashtabula County, Ohio, son of Gardiner and Fanny Rice. In 1848 his parents came to Oregon, Wisconsin.Age 22, single, a farmer. Enlisted August 14th 1862 Oregon, Wisconsin by J. Bull for three years, mustered in August 30th 1862, Madison, Wisconsin.
