In the early 1920’s, a large interdenominational, evangelistic complex, known as the Hallelujah Camp Grounds, was built on the corner of Janesville St. and South Perry Parkway (See Google Map).

Hundreds of people attended the religious gathering run by former Congregational minister, Rev. Jack Linn and his wife Sophie Nelson Linn each summer. By 1941, its facilities included a central building, tabernacle, refractory, small hotel, and several identical cottages. Revival services were held in the month of August and during the rest of the tourist season the cabins were rented.

The Oregon Area Historical Society owns what remain of the stone structures that were originally part of the Hallelujah Camp Grounds. They currently are on our property and the Society has plans to repair and incorporate some of the structures into a garden for the community to enjoy.
