OAHS Board Highlights

December 2023

Joel Olsen, president

  • The Board commended the Museum staff on hosting a very successful  Christmas at the Museum again this year; there were Scandinavian refreshments, a rosemaling demonstration, lots of visitors – young and old, and several folks for whom this was their first visit to the museum.

  • The Museum will submit an application to the University Library and Information School, offering the museum as a practicum site for graduate students.

  • Bob Block, representing the Relocation Committee, walked the Board through an exercise for determining some of the parameters for a new museum facility.  Conclusions included finding a new museum site in the downtown area, planning a building of around 7,500 square feet, and anticipating budgeting for part-time professional staff.

  • The 2024 Annual Meeting was set for Saturday, March 16, beginning with a 10:00 brunch; meeting to be held in new Village Hall Community Room.
