OAHS Board Highlights ~Annual Meeting

  • Annual Meeting [March 19, 2023]

    • Presentation by the Mt. Horeb Historical Society about how they were able to get a new museum designed and built. 
    • Amendments to the Bylaws were presented and approved.
    • Financial report and operating budget approved [$19,461].  
    • Volunteer hours [since July 2022] were logged at 1948 hours.  Loyal volunteers enable us to keep operating costs down; we have no salaried personnel.  If we value our volunteers at $10 per hour, they have contributed about $19,500 in value.  At $25 per hour, they contribute about $50,000 in value.  Go volunteers!
    • We have about 300 individual/family members in the Historical Society and 30 businesses.
    • Our Website as been remodeled, thanks to a team of students from Madison College, at no cost to us.  The value of this project is about $7500.  Heather Young has been trained, and appointed, to maintain the site.
    • Kara Ripley was newly elected to the Board of Directions, while Deanna Fischer and JoAnn Swenson were re-elected to three-year terms.
    • Phil Peterson has requested the Board to consider hosting the Red Brick School Reunion in future years.

    Special Board Officer Organizational Meeting [March 19, 2023]

    • Officers of the OAHS for the coming year were elected:  Joel Olsen, President; JoAnn Swenson, Vice-President; Mary Norwell, Secretary and Luke Heiar, Treasurer.
    • Board meetings for 2023 were re-scheduled for the second Monday of the month, at 4:30 p.m., at the Museum.
