OAHS Board Highlights ~ October 2022
- Treasurer Luke Heiar introduced an improved classification schedule where various expenses can be debited, thus allowing for a more accurate budget preparation for the next year.
- Museum Coordinator Dixie Brown reported that the recent Rummage Sale netted over $500 in receipts; this offset the cost for “1-800-GotJunk” to haul away unwanted stuff from the attic.
- JoAnn Swenson and Dawn Grinnell are working on two new exhibits: “Oregon-the-Horse-Capitol” and “Miss Oregon.”
- Joel Olsen is working with a high school volunteer and they have measured and recorded about 250 photos so far.
- A new website is being developed by MATC students [their class project, at no cost to us] and will be turned over to Heather Young, our Publicity Coordinator, for maintaining the new site.
- Heather has done an outstanding job in developing and organizing the “Night at the Museum” event scheduled for Saturday, October 22.
- Deanna Fischer, our representative to the Council on Aging, gave an oral report: Senior Center is starting to develop a plan forward for a new center.
- Bob Block presented a report from the Relocation Committee. A chart was reviewed comparing purchase and renovation costs for three possible future museum site options. Bob will make a presentation on November 14 at the Village Board expressing our interest in the vacant properties at 249 No. Main St.
- Bylaw review was postponed until a special Board meeting on October 26, when the project should be finalized. Proposed amendments to the Bylaws will be presented to the membership for approval at the 2023 Annual Meeting.
