OAHS Board Highlights ~September 2022
Joel Olsen, president
- Treasurer Luke Heiar has begun to track the dollar value of donated services in order to give us a more correct sense of what it costs to run the Museum, and to better account for these donations-in-kind.
- A CD in value of $95,070 was renewed for 24 months at a rate of 2.24%.
- From Dixie Brown, Museum Coordinator, we learned that the tradesman willing to pour a concrete slab for the Hallelujah Camp structures will not be doing so for personal reasons; the final placement of these structures is on hold.
- We will be represented at the Volunteer Fair, sponsored by the Oregon Senior Center, on Saturday September 24. We have at least nine specific projects for which we are seeking volunteers. The requests are posted elsewhere in this website.
- Heather Young, Publicity Coordinator, is working with a team of students from Madison College whose semester project is to propose redesign elements to our web site. The OAHS Board approved this request last spring to avail ourselves to the students who work with not-for-profit agencies at no cost to us. The project will be completed by the end of the year.
- The Board approved amendments to Articles 6 and 7 of our Bylaws, and considered amendments to Article 8. A new Article on Financial Management and Accountability was introduced; this article defines spending limits for the Museum Coordinator, Executive Committee, Board as a whole, and Society as a whole. All amended bylaws will come before the Society at its annual meeting in March.
- Bob Block, chair of the Relocation Committee introduced his written report. A lively discussion followed. The Relocation Committee has asked the Board for its intentions about pursuing relocation options.
- By motion of the Board, the Relocation Committee is being asked to gather realistic costs for purchase and renovation of Village Hall, another building in question, and the property at 249 North Main Street.
- Figures will be brought to the Board for further discussion this fall; any final decisions on a project of this scope will be brought before the Society as a whole for final approval.
