 The Thomas Zook family settled here in 1849. They immediately united with our Church. Mr. Zook being musical, was frequently asked to start the hymns, there being no instrument in those early days. The only horse team and carriage in the community was owned by Mr. Zook. It was often in use for funerals and weddings.Both Mr. and Mrs. Zook were active in the work of the Church. Mrs. Zook died in 1891, and Mr. Zook in 1896.
