History Happened Here

Local history focuses on the stories and experiences of ordinary people, providing a glimpse into their daily lives and challenges. Studying local history helps individuals understand the history of their community, the lives of those who came before, and how that history has shaped the present.

Local historical societies document and preserve the cultural heritage and traditions of a community, ensuring they are not forgotten.

The Oregon Area Historical Society is run by volunteers! We are always looking for more volunteers to help with events and to work on projects. Reach out if you are interested!

We are forever grateful for the hard work and enthusiasm that our volunteers bring to the table each and everyday. We are a small historical society and do important work to collect and preserve the history of Oregon.

Future Projects

  • Sports Exhibit Coordinator: The sports display in the museum is small and mostly from teams from a very long time ago. We would like to work with the community and school t update the display to include the many athletes from the past 60 years.

  •  Organize Military Uniforms: The Museum has several wardrobes full of military uniforms that need to be identified and organized.
