JAMES B. STONE, a retired farmer of Oregon, was born March 27, 1826, on the Isle of Wight, both of his parents, Jonathan and Harriet (Dore) Stone, being natives of that island.

JESSE STEVENS, Sec. 30; P.O. Stoner’s Prairie; born in Orleans Co., N.Y., Oct. 12, 1822; he farmed it there until September, 1845, when he brought his family up the lakes to Milwaukee, and, two weeks later, settled on part of his present 177-1/2 acre farm.

A. T. STEVENS, of Oregon, was born December 25, 1830, in Bradford county, Pa. His parents were A. B. Stevens, a native of Connecticut, and Lucy (Taylor) Stevens, who was born in New York.

H.S. Smith

H. S. SMITH, farmer, Sec. 25; P.O. Brooklyn; was born in 1806 in Orange Co., Vt.; his early life was spent in Onondaga, Monroe and Yates Cos., N.Y.; he married in the former county Miss Irena Wright, of Bennington, Vt.; she died Oct. 3, 1842, leaving two daughters, Elfie and Louisa; the second marriage, with Miss Phoebe Walford, was in her native county (Yates); two years later, he came West and bought 80 acres of his present farm;

Nels Sorrenson

NELS SORRENSON, of Oregon, was born in Denmark, November 21, 1871. He is the son of Soren and Anna Sorrenson, natives of Denmark. His father is a farmer and still living, but his mother is dead. They had a family of six sons, four of whom live in the United States and two are still in Denmark.

WILLIAM SODEN, wagon and carriage maker, Oregon; born in the town of Butternuts, Otsego CO., N.Y. in 1837; came to Rock Co., Wis., with this parents, in 1845;

HENRY S. SMITH II, of Brooklyn, was born at Gorham, Ontario County, N.Y., April 17, 1847. His father, Henry S. Smith, was a native of Vermont, and came west when the country was new; he came across Lake Michigan, landing at Milwaukee, and came on to Dane county in November of 1847.

J.H. Sholts

J.H. SHOLTS, of Oregon, was born at Sun Prairie, September 15, 1873, of German parentage, Jacob and Christine (Stine) Sholts. They came to the United States in 1859 and settled in Sun Prairie, Dane county, where their children, except the oldest, (Mrs. Custer, of Dunn township) were born and reared and where they remained until their death.
