Gertude Christine Sorensen
GERTRUDE CHRISTINE (HANSEN) SORENSEN, Enke (widow). She was President of the first Ladies Aid organized in 1895, and also helped to start Sunday School. She was born Jan. 27, 1826 in Raersnas, Osttofte on Lolland, Denmark, baptized the same year in Osttofte Church, confirmed the 1st Sunday after Easter, 1840 by Pastor Tanning and was married Feb. 8, 1853 to Hans Peter Sorensen.
Nels Sorrenson
NELS SORRENSON, of Oregon, was born in Denmark, November 21, 1871. He is the son of Soren and Anna Sorrenson, natives of Denmark. His father is a farmer and still living, but his mother is dead. They had a family of six sons, four of whom live in the United States and two are still in Denmark.

Seminary at Newburg, Vt., began at 18 and taught five terms in New England; came West in 1843, and paid almost his last dollar for 40 acres of his present farm; reaching Freeport, Ill., with just 60 cents, he obtained a school near Cedarville;

Arthur H. Sholts
Arthur Hamlin Sholts was born February 6, 1861, in the town of Rutland, the son of Martin and Almeda Sholts. He received his early education in the Devine school and was a member of the first graduating class of the Oregon High School in 1884. He completed his academic education in Whitewater Normal, graduating in 1889.
H.S. Smith II
HENRY S. SMITH II, of Brooklyn, was born at Gorham, Ontario County, N.Y., April 17, 1847. His father, Henry S. Smith, was a native of Vermont, and came west when the country was new; he came across Lake Michigan, landing at Milwaukee, and came on to Dane county in November of 1847.
Garrett Runey
GARRETT RUNEY, farmer, Secs. 24 and 23, P.O. Oregon; is a son of the first settler of Oregon Township, viz. Bartley Runey, who was born in Maryland in 1795; married in his and her native State, Margaret Garnett; they settled in Ohio in 1824. Garrett Runey was born in Preble, Clinton Co., Ohio, Oct. 10, 1832; in March 1841, Mr. Runey left La Porte Co., Ind., with team and covered wagon, and reached Janesville, Wis., April 8; early in the spring of 1842, he made the first claim, built the first house and became the first permanent white settler of what is now Oregon;
